Still got unanswered question around the housesitting experience. Here are a bunch of questions we keep getting asked.READ OUT FAQs
House sitting is where a person agrees to look after a home-owners pets and house while they are out of town. This is typically in exchange for free rent, payment, or some other similar agreement.
We leave this decision up to the home owner and house sitter in each specific case. Often the home owner will take care of the power/internet up to a certain cost, leaving the rest to the house sitter.
We expect that our cleaners will be responsible and clean for the whole duration of their house sit. Although, House sitting NZ does a full professional clean at the end of each stay just before the home owner returns. This makes sure that home owners can arrive back to a tidy and clean home, and takes the pressure off of our house sitters. Note that our professional clean is only applicable for 7+ nights of house sits.

We start our interview process by contacting our potential house sitters for a quick phone interview. We then arrange a time to meet in person or on Skype to get a better feel for who that person is and if they're a right fit for us.
We require our house sitters to provide us with a reference, as well as submit a police check.
Upon each completion of a house sit, we request feedback from the homeowner, which we are happy to share with you.
All of our house sitters have signed a document agreeing to our terms and conditions.
Once we've contacted you and found an appropriate sitter for your requirements, we'll arrange a time for you both to meet. We will then follow-up with this and make sure that your happy with your house sitter. If you are, then you can simply arrange a time that your house sitter will be able to begin their house sit.
We require payment in full prior to a house sit commencing.
Our payment structure is simple, just $10 per day per home owner or house sitter.
We charge a $100 deposit prior to the meeting of any house sitters, which will be refunded in full and within 48 hours if you're not satisfied.
This is to be decided between the house sitter and home owner. Although, typically we find that the home owner will pay for/provide the food for their pet.
We guarantee that there will be someone to house sit for you. Our small, trusted team does not frequently cancel house sits, and if they do then we tend not to recommend them again. In the event a house sitter does cancel, one of our staff will house sit for you.
